Goats n' Gardens Week 3 Day 4

Updated: Jul 31, 2019

Hello everyone! I knew today was going to be a great day when it started with treats and lots of pets from everyone! With my treats and morning pets out of the way, it was time to check out what our campers were up to.

This morning, our green peppers worked together to complete the flag ceremony before they led us through the pledges. Afterwards, Jordan joined the green peppers to help energize everyone with a super fun warm-up.

After doing chores all week, our campers were becoming animal chore pros! All the pepper groups completed their chores with ease using what they learned during the week and by cooperating with their fellow peppers.

Out in the garden, today was all about mulch! After getting some fresh mulch, the peppers jumped right in to help David spread it in the garden. They even decided to have a little fun by creating a mulch-igloo before spreading it in the walkways.

Since the peppers harvested so much zucchini from the garden, it was the perfect day to make zucchini muffins! This is the perfect healthy snack for you and your pepper(s) this summer so check out the recipe below!

This week's camp theme is Goats n' Gardens, and today was all about our goats! Our campers had a blast taking our goats on a walk around the farm and seeing how they behave or what they eat that isn't hay!

Later on, campers used goat's milk to make soap. How cool is that? Once their soap has time to harden, each pepper will get their own little bar of goat milk soap to use at home!

Campers also explored the historic Craig Log Cabin where they learned about butter and even made their own by hand. Afterwards, they enjoyed this tasty spread with some crackers.

What better way to end the day than with a prize? O

What better way to end the day than with a prize? Our campers put on their thinking caps to complete their scavenger hunt and receive the prize. And what was the prize? A delicious popsicle and nothing beats the summer heat quite like popsicles do!

I'd also like to remind everyone to arrive early for the Farm Show at 3:30 and to pack a swim suit, towel and close-toed shoes with your camper(s) tomorrow! We have a ton of fun activities planned!

Catch you tomorrow!
