New campers arrived at the farm today for Farm on Foot! We got to see a lot that the farm has to offer and do lots of exploring!
In the morning, our campers used amazing teamwork skills to complete a farm puzzle that got us super excited for our day of exploring!
No farm camp would be complete without a trip to the animal homes! We stopped by the barn to greet our goats and sheep. Bowers Farm welcomed a new baby goat (kid) over the weekend! Barnyard Buddies were so excited to meet their new friend - he is so soft and cute!
We also took a visit to the hay loft to inquire about what the hay is used for on the farm; we came up with a lot of good answers including for food and bedding!
Continuing on our exploration, we hopped past the bunnies and got to meet our baby bunny friends. They are still too tiny to hold, but they are certainly cute to look at! They look like little marshmallows!
The horses were getting ready for riding camp as we visited their home to say hello, and the ponies were enjoying a morning snack of hay!
Inside the poultry barn, there were two pigs ready to play with our campers and lots of chickens and quails looking for shade. There were also two turkeys that we heard gobble to say hello!
After so much exploration, it was time for a water break and a snack to get back some energy from the hot, sunny day!
With tummies full of water, we got to decorate bug jugs for a fun bug hunt tomorrow - we cannot wait to see what we find! We even read a story to help us learn more about the types of critters that are found on the farm.
Once our bug jugs were beautified, we got ready to go on the wagon for a shady picnic lunch! We made sure to drink LOTS of water and eat lots of good food to recharge. On our wagon ride back to the classroom, the Green Peppers joined us as they finished picking fresh black raspberries - they were so nice to share some with us!
Then, we got to create some drawings of what our bug jugs may look like tomorrow - some campers drew butterflies and ladybugs. Some even drew little toads! What amazing imaginations!
Before saying "see you tomorrow!", we marched out to the gazebo to eat some delicious, refreshing popsicles! Yum! We cannot wait for day two of Farm on Foot!
