Hello everyone and welcome back to Animal & Nature Camp! I’m Turnip the cat and I can’t wait to share with you all the fun things campers did today. At the flag ceremony, the peppers learned the Bowers’ Bog song taught by Ms. Alena!
The red peppers spent time with the rabbits this morning. They lured them from their cage with fresh leaves, then took them to the hayloft! They also discussed the physical features of a rabbit and their prey behavior.
The yellow peppers took care of the poultry! They changed their water, refilled their grain, and replaced the shavings in the coop. The peppers also learned how to properly catch and hold a chicken.
Out in the garden, the green peppers helped restock the farm stand. They picked zucchini, Swiss chard, and tomatoes. They also had fun smelling and tasting the different herbs!
Today’s recipe was Crisscross Applesauce served with graham crackers. It was super delicious and smelled amazing! If you want to make this at home, follow the recipe card or the recipe listed below.
Campers went on a hike to find some awesome bugs. Some groups looked in the woods while others had better luck in the pasture. They all found so many cool creepy crawlers!
The peppers played a pollination game to learn how bees collect pollen from flowers. Campers tied Velcro bandanas around their elbows. They then raced and tried to pick up as much pollen as they could!
During STEM time, the yellow peppers dropped the nests they made yesterday. Some eggs survived the fall, while others did not. For orange peppers’ STEM time, campers continued working on the shelter they built yesterday.
To end the day, the red peppers played some parachute games in the shade. What a great way to beat the heat and have some fun!
Thanks for stopping by for another day of Animal & Nature camp. Check back tomorrow to see the peppers in action!
