Happy Friday everyone! Wow, can you believe it's already the end of the first week of camp? Time sure does fly when you're having fun! Just ask our campers.
After the morning Pepper Party, each pepper group met at the flag pole for the daily ceremony. The orange pepper group led us through our daily flag ceremony before Jordan led "The Hippo Song" to energize and excite all of our campers and staff for the day ahead.
Since our campers worked with the animals every morning this week they had their routine down-pat and knew exactly what to do. Some groups even had extra time left to help out with other groups chores! They showed great cooperation and demonstrated the importance of hard work.
Our campers got to do something new during garden time today. Instead of spending all day out in the gardens, they were able to each replant a tomato plant that they would get to take home! This was a huge help for Mr. David, but also a great thing for campers to do and show to their parents. I know I'd want my own tomato plant to grow and get fresh tomatoes from!
For a snack, campers got to make a delicious treat! They made ice cream by hand! Using just a couple ingredients and two plastic bags, each pepper made vanilla ice cream that they got to top with chocolate and/or sprinkles. Now that sounds delicious! This is something your pepper(s) will love to do and a great summer treat, so be sure to check out the recipe card!
Since all the pepper groups finished their STEM Nest projects yesterday, they got to take Happy, one of our pot belly pigs out on an adventure around camp! Happy loves to see all the campers and explore around the farm so he had a great time and so did all of our campers.
After lunch, each pepper group had the chance to do different activities, such as archery, horseback riding, animal hikes and skit practice. After all, that's why they call it Fun Friday!
Once each group wrapped up their activities, it was time for a snack break! Campers and staff cooled down under the tent with some popsicles before rehearsing their skit one last time.
Soon enough, parents and families began to arrive, eager to see their pepper(s) perform their skit.
And with that, we celebrated the end of the first week of camp. While this week may be done, we're so excited for the many more weeks that are to come. We had such awesome campers and are looking forward to seeing some familiar faces and meeting new campers for the next week of camp!
Thank you all for an awesome week! I hope to see you again soon!
